Editorial Policy
Money decisions matter, so we hold our guides to a clear standard. This page explains how we research, write, check, and update what we publish.
Sources
We rely on primary and official sources, such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission, the Federal Reserve, Investor.gov, the IRS, and Federal Student Aid. Each guide lists its sources at the bottom. We use secondary sources only when a primary source is not available, and we say so.
Accuracy and updates
Rates, fees, limits, and programs change. We avoid quoting figures that can go out of date. When we do use a figure, we give its date and source. Each guide shows when its sources were last checked.
How our guides are prepared
Our guides are drafted with the help of artificial intelligence tools. Drafts are tied to the sources listed in each guide, worked examples are recalculated, and links are checked. Final publishing checks are carried out by the site team. We do not claim that a licensed financial adviser, attorney, or tax professional writes or reviews our guides. AI-assisted writing can contain mistakes, which is why we tell you where the information comes from and ask you to verify anything important with the official source.
Corrections
If you find an error or an outdated statement, please tell us through the Contact page. We correct mistakes promptly and, when a correction changes the meaning of a guide, we note it on the page.
Advertising and independence
We earn money from advertising. Ads are labeled and shown separately from editorial content. We do not accept payment from banks, lenders, or card issuers in exchange for coverage. If we ever publish sponsored content, we will label it clearly.
No personal advice
Our guides explain concepts and options in general terms. We do not recommend a specific loan, card, or investment, and nothing here is personal financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. Higher-risk products such as leveraged trading can lose money quickly, and we never promise returns.
